Job Details
Operates and maintains high pressure steam boilers, emergency generators, chillers, cooling towers, cogeneration and auxiliary equipment including the electrical interface with the Energy Center. Inspects all Energy Center equipment and makes repairs as required. Tests and submits reports documenting all established parameters associated with all Energy Center equipment (both mechanical and chemical.)
Job Responsibility
- * Monitors and supports the day-to-day operation and ensures proper operation, maintenance and repair of the high pressure boilers, electric and steam chillers, cooling towers, emergency generators, cogeneration and all auxiliary equipment associated with the Energy Center.
- * Ensures proper chemical treatment to all water systems in the Energy Center through monitoring, reporting and maintaining proper levels of all of the chemicals used in the Energy Center.
- * Observes various meters and gauges in the steam, chiller, emergency generation and cogeneration plants and take appropriate or remedial action to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Energy Center.
- * Documents and communicates all major repair needs and unsafe conditions to Plant Operations Manager.
- * Assigns specific tasks to Fireman and Cogeneration Mechanic.
- * Reviews and maintains records, reports, logs, statistics and files.
- * Establishes and maintains a professional relationship with the outside contractors responsible for performing work on the boilers, chillers, emergency generators, cogeneration cooling towers, air compressors and auxiliary systems.
- * Recommends and prepares purchase requests for Plant Operations Manager.
- * Ensures the Energy Center is kept clean and orderly.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Job Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Knowledge of high pressure steam boilers, emergency generators, electric and steam driven centrifugal chillers, cogeneration equipment and auxiliary as normally acquired through the completion of two (2) years of college, vocational or technical school.
- New York City Stationary Engineer license and New York City Refrigeration Machine Operator’s License, required. Air pollution certificate, preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years plant operations experience, required.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
